Summer Camps for 2020!

We will be holding a limited number of summer day camps for students this year. The number of students will be limited, and some of the camps will be held in a hybrid format, with in-person sessions at the Planetarium on Monday and Friday, and Tuesday through Thursday sessions conducted on Zoom and Google Meets. The health of your kids is very important to us.

All camps are one week long, Monday through Friday. The camps available are:

Children ages 9 and 10 STARS
June 15-19                              11:00 AM – noon, $15.00

(Limit of 15 students) Students will learn about the points of light we see in the sky. They may all look the same but they are not. They range in size, color, temperature, power, and life spans. FORMAT: Please note, this camp will ONLY meet face to face on Monday the 15th and Friday the 19th.  The remainder of the camp will be done virtually using Zoom or Google Meet.  A valid email address will be required to send links to the virtual meetings.

Children ages 7 and 8SOLAR SYSTEM EXPLORATION
June 22-26                             11:00 AM – noon, $15.00

(Limit of 15 students) Students will learn about objects in our solar system and the technology used to explore them. FORMAT: Please note, this camp will ONLY meet face to face on Monday the 22nd and Friday the 26th.  The remainder of the camp will be done virtually using Zoom or Google Meet.  A valid email address will be required to send links to the virtual meetings.

Children ages 9 and 10EARTH SCIENCE

July 6-10                               10:00 AM – noon, $25.00

(Limit of 15 students) Learn about habitats and ecosystems, rock and minerals, weather and other Earth Science topics. Students will meet at the planetarium for the camp.

Children ages 11 and upAMATEUR ASTRONOMY 101
July 27 –31                             1:00 – 2:00 PM, $15.00

(Limit of 8 students) Topics covered: Observing the moon as it changes phases, recognizing constellations and asterisms, using a planisphere or star chart, observing the sky with a telescope.   Telescopes will be checked out to students on Monday and returned on Friday.   An observation book and planisphere will be included for students to use and keep.
