The Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP) invites you to join them for a live reading of the illustrated children’s storybook, Laika The Astronaut, by Owen Davy. Laika is a stray dog living on the streets of Moscow when she is chosen to be the first ever animal launched into orbit. But her rocket disappears, and everyone thinks Laika is lost forever. In this imaginative take on a true story, Laika is rescued by new owners and finds the perfect home on a planet far, far away.
Story Time starts at noon (MDT) on Monday, May 18 and is held using Zoom. It’s free, but you do need to register using this link: REGISTER HERE
Before the reading: Do you have pets? The ASP invites you to take a photograph of your family pets and tell where they would like to travel in space as astronauts. If you don’t have a pet, you could take a photo of a stuffed animal or draw a picture of your favorite animal. Send your photo by 10 am MDT on May 18 to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your name and location, your animal’s name, and where they would like to travel. They’ll share it during Storytime, and you can tell everyone about your pet and where they would travel in space!
