Brighter, sharper images and more vivid colors are on their way to our Planetarium dome, courtesy of a new Digitalis BarcoF90-4K13 DLP projector. This new equipment will double the resolution over that provided by our current projector, now over 10 years old.
From February 26 to March 2, we will not have any public shows to allow time for the installation to be done and the staff to receive training on the new system. In theory, it will be up and running starting with our Saturday evening public shows on March 3. But, it’s new technology, so just in case … we’re planning our Premiere Celebration for Saturday, March 10.
On March 10, we’ll feature Cosmic Cruisin’ — an expanded tour of the night sky — at 7 pm and Cosmology at 8 pm. (Please see our Events Calendar for details on both these shows.) We’ll also have complementary refreshments before and between the shows. Join us that evening and treat your eyes to a better-than-ever full-dome experience!
